Make a static QR destination people can check

A QR code can hold a website address or ordinary text. This tool encodes that supplied content directly, which makes the destination part of the printed symbol rather than an editable redirect managed by BarcoBatch.

Choose a destination with a useful lifetime

For a poster or an instruction card, use a public URL you control and expect to maintain. A local file path, private staging address or logged-in dashboard will not become publicly accessible merely because it is encoded. The static symbol itself has no service-based expiry, but its destination can disappear, change permissions or become unsafe. Prefer a short, clear address over a long tracking link when the extra parameters are not needed for the task.

Create and inspect the code in three steps

Put the complete destination or message into Text or URL. Choose Error correction if the default M does not suit the intended use, then press Generate QR code. Open the result with a separate phone and inspect the proposed address before following it; only then use Download SVG or Download PNG for the printed material. This check catches an accidental scheme, missing path or extra character that a visually correct QR pattern cannot reveal.

Size depends on data and the reading distance

A normal QR code requires a clear margin at least four modules wide around the symbol. More encoded content can create a denser grid, so the same outside width can leave much smaller squares. There is no single minimum centimetre size that guarantees every phone will read every payload. Retain a dark-on-light design, avoid stretching the square, and test at the distance and lighting expected at the display, including a lower-end device.

Error correction is not permission to obscure the design

The L, M, Q and H choices trade capacity for recovery capability. A higher level does not guarantee that an arbitrary logo, fold or stain is safe; finder patterns and clear margins still matter. Do not edit over the exported image to add decoration without retesting. For production, preserve a vector master where your design software supports it, print at the final size, and check the code after lamination or placement behind reflective material.

Common questions

Can I change a static QR after printing?
Its encoded data cannot be rewritten. You can maintain the web page at an address you control, but changing the actual encoded address requires a new symbol.
Is scanning completely offline?
Reading stored text can be local. Opening an encoded website normally needs a connection and uses the destination’s own privacy and access rules.
Does H always scan better than M?
No universal result follows. Higher error correction can increase density for the same message; evaluate both the data length and the physical print conditions.
Are private passwords safe to paste here?
Generation is browser-local, but anyone with the resulting QR can decode its contents. Avoid publishing confidential data in a poster, screenshot or shared download.

QR code creation guide

Turn URLs, Links and Text into a Static QR Code

The generator stays first. The sections below explain the most common URL-to-QR and text-to-QR uses, static QR behavior, export formats and error-correction choices without adding a tracking or redirect layer.

Create a QR code for any link or URL

Paste the full link you want people to open after scanning. A website, landing page, product page, online menu, form, social profile, video, map share link or WhatsApp deep link can all be encoded because the QR stores the URL itself.

Create a QR code from plain text

The same field also accepts plain text, product references, serial numbers, short instructions and other UTF-8 content. When scanned, the reader decides how to present the encoded content; BarcoBatch does not rewrite or shorten it.

Static QR codes do not depend on a redirect service

BarcoBatch creates static QR codes. The content is embedded directly in the symbol, so the QR code itself does not expire because a subscription ends. A printed static code cannot be edited later; if the encoded destination changes, create and print a new code. A URL can still stop working if the destination page itself disappears.

Choose L, M, Q or H error correction

Level M is the default and is a balanced choice for many uses. Higher levels add more redundancy and can help recover data when part of the code is dirty or damaged, but they reduce available data capacity and usually make the pattern denser.

Download PNG or SVG and test the final code

PNG is convenient for documents, messaging and general image use. SVG is vector-based and stays sharp in print and design layouts. Before publishing or printing, scan the final version with the phones and scanners your audience will actually use.

Private generation with no scan analytics

QR generation runs locally in your browser. BarcoBatch does not upload the entered content to a QR-generation server, does not create a tracking redirect and does not count scans. If you need many QR codes, the Excel workflow can generate QR outputs for up to 1,000 data rows per worksheet.

Common questions

Do QR codes created here expire?
The generated codes are static, so the code itself does not depend on a subscription or redirect service. If it contains a URL, that destination must still remain available.
Can I change the destination after printing?
No. The destination is embedded directly in a static QR code. If the destination changes, generate and print a new QR code.
What do L, M, Q and H mean?
They are QR error-correction levels. Higher levels add more redundancy for damaged or dirty codes, while reducing the amount of data that fits in the same symbol.
Can I create QR codes in bulk from Excel?
Yes. The Excel workflow can generate QR outputs from up to 1,000 data rows per worksheet and provides XLSX and PNG ZIP downloads.
Is the text or link uploaded to a server?
No. QR generation is designed to run locally in your browser.
